God of War: Ragnarök (PS4, PS5)

It’s rare for a game exclusive to a single console to be eagerly anticipated by the entire gaming community. The God of War franchise, however, is something that we’ve gotten our hands on at some point, whether we owned a PlayStation 2, a PlayStation Portable, or a PlayStation 3 in the past.

Fortunately, the game that reinvented the series – 2018’s award-winning God of War – is finally making its way onto the PC platform this month, and now there will be millions more waiting for the release of its promising sequel, God of War: Ragnarök.

Ragnarök takes place in the same world introduced to us in its predecessor, though it heavily improves upon it. There are new locations that were previously inaccessible due to all the ice, as well as undiscovered runes, new powers, new enemies, new allies, and upgraded visuals that are breathtakingly gorgeous to behold.

And, to make things even better, the developers have confirmed that this game will conclude the Norse story arc instead of being the second game in a trilogy. It’s one of the most anticipated games coming out this year, and, hopefully, the PC port will not take too long this time around.

Dying Light 2: Stay Human (PS4, PS5, XB1, Xbox Series X/S, PC)

Dying Light 2 is a game that has been in development hell for a long time. Despite the fact that it took so long to make, no other game has delivered the same adrenaline rush that the first Dying Light offered – not in the same way, anyway.

Dying Light 2 is finally coming out this year, and it seems bigger and better than ever. The game is estimated to be 500 hours long for players who want to complete every single piece of content, and the open world is filled with a long list of characters to meet and side missions to complete. The main story seems to be more polished this time around, too, and the game looks absolutely gorgeous from a graphical standpoint.

Of course, everything that made the gameplay fun is coming back, including parkour on rooftops, hooks, paragliders, and many unique weapons varieties.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk (Nintendo Switch, PC)

If you played and loved Jet Set Radio (or just think it looks cool in general), then Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a game that you need to keep an eye on. It features stylish gameplay in which you play as a delinquent painting the city with cool graffiti while pulling off cool tricks on roller-skates.

The city looks great, the character models are crisp, and the soundtrack is being composed by none other than Hideki Naganuma, so it’s the perfect way to revisit a genre we don’t see too often.

Elden Ring (PC, PS4, PS5, XB1, Xbox Series X/S)

Elden Ring is the next big game in the Dark Souls franchise, and it is absolutely massive in scale. The ways you can play the game are going to contain even more variety this time around, and the open world is also ambitiously large.

The land in the game is filled with new and familiar creatures such as gods, dragons, and so on. And, to make it even better, the story is written by none other than George R. R. Martin – the man behind the Game of Thrones books.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 (Nintendo Switch)

Breath of the Wild does not need an introduction, because that game, even in 2022, remains an inspiration for any game with a large open world, beautiful visuals, and role-playing elements. It was only a matter of time until a sequel would follow suit, and that time happens to be now.

The Callisto Protocol (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S)

The co-creator of the Dead Space series is finally making his return to the sci-fi survival horror genre with The Callisto Protocol, and it has a very similar setting to his previous games. The player will take control of a prisoner who is stuck on one of the moons of Jupiter and has to uncover the mystery of where he is and how he can escape the hell in which he now finds himself.

Bayonetta 3 (Nintendo Switch)

The Bayonetta franchise has been on a hiatus for a while despite the fact that the third game had  already been announced. Fortunately, the third game was finally revealed with a new trailer, and it’s coming out very soon.

The action, humor, style, and personality are all back, and fans are as excited as ever to finally get their hands on the conclusion of the trilogy.

Gotham Knights (PS4, PS5, XB1, Xbox Series X/S, PC)

Although the Arkham series had four games and even a couple of handheld spin-offs, the demand for games featuring Batman is as strong as ever. Fortunately for everyone who wanted more, Gotham Knights has been announced.

The premise is simple: Batman is dead, and the rest of the Bat family has to protect Gotham from its dangerous criminals. The game is being developed by the studio behind Arkham Origins, so you can expect some cool boss fights on the way. It also features the Court of Owls as the primary antagonists, which was a great storyline in the comics.

Although we are very excited about the games that we mentioned, these are not all of the awesome games that have are slated for a 2022 release. Here are the honorable mentions that we’re also looking forward to: Ghost Wire Tokyo, Hogwarts Legacy, Dead Space remake, Horizon: Forbidden West, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen (Expansion), Metal Slug Tactics, SIFU, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, and Sonic Frontiers.
